The Ledges Golf Club, located in St. George UT, is currently accepting resumes for the Golf Course Superintendent position.
The Ledges Golf Club is a public resort golf facility located in St. George, Utah. The golf course was designed by Matt Dye and is a beautiful golf course in sweeping views of Snow Canyon State Park that boarders the golf course. The Ledges was built in 2006 and has been featured in national magazines due to the picturesque landscaping around the golf course.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Golf Course Superintendent position is responsible for the successful operation of the Golf Course Maintenance Department. This includes providing agronomic direction to maintain the golf course at the highest quality possible at all times. Programs for turf/grass, material and chemical maintenance and asset management are critical to the success of this role. This position prepares an annual budget and achieves these financial goals throughout the year, through proper forecasting, expense controls and labor management.
The Superintendent reports to and works closely with the General Manager, as well as interacting with the Director of Golf and Head Golf Professional on a daily basis to maximize course conditions and the number of rounds of golf played by scheduling maintenance practices around play and outings.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
Experience producing excellent playing conditions in a high desert climate 12 months per year (golf course is cool season grass and does not need to be overseeded).
Experience with Toro irrigation system.
Demonstrates experience and capability in the areas of budget development, fiscal management, strategic planning, and staff management.
Responsible for interviewing, hiring, supervising, training, and directing the Golf Course Maintenance staff.
Demonstrates excellent leadership abilities and interpersonal communication skills.

Wapika Ranch on the Green River - Pinedale, Wyoming
Assistant Superintendent
Wapika Ranch, a private working ranch and family retreat, is seeking a qualified full time Assistant Golf Course Superintendent. The nine-hole golf course is located at 6925’ elevation in a remote rural area on the upper Green River 20 miles south of Pinedale, Wyoming. The Golf Course Architect is Carl Thuesen and the par 36, 3652-yard design utilizes the Green River and its tributaries, natural wetlands, irrigation ditches, and 4 ponds to create a unique test of golf that is both challenging and playable for all golfers. Fall of 2017 consisted of sodding T1 bentgrass green and bluegrass tees and fairways along with seeding roughs to a fescue mixture. The ranch is in the process of constructing an indoor riding arena that will include a large landscaping project outside the arena along with landscaping to the trophy ponds nearby. The ranch is also in the process of planning construction of an additional 9 holes. The design is completed,
and we are moving forward with the process of putting together a crew to move forward with the project. Pinedale is the gateway to the Wind River Range, Wyoming Range and the Jackson Hole Area, including Teton and Yellowstone National Parks. Wyoming is an outdoors state with low property taxes and no state income tax. Both winter and summer outdoor recreation activities abound in a small-town atmosphere.
Responsibilities: The Assistant Superintendent, under supervision of the Superintendent, will be involved in all advanced aspects of golf course management. Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to monitoring the golf course playing conditions, fertilizer and chemical applications, hiring seasonal employees, maintain golf course and village irrigation and participate in nightly programming of irrigation, seasonal employee training and supervision, involvement in budgeting and development of long-range goals.

Job Description: The Irrigation Specialist, under the supervision of the Golf Course Superintendent and assistant superintendent, is responsible for the complete operation and maintenance of the golf course irrigation system and its properties. The irrigation specialist will offer expertise and aid in maintenance of landscape irrigation systems where needed.
Essential Qualifications: Working knowledge of basic electricity and hydraulics related to an irrigation system; basic understanding of agronomy and turf grass science; understanding of the game of golf and preparation techniques for play; ability to operate light and medium duty equipment; record keeping and basic computer skills; supervisory skills; 3 years golf course maintenance and irrigation experience; valid driver’s license.
Physical and Mental Requirements: Physical activity is moderate to demanding and will require bending, kneeling, and lifting. Must be able to lift and carry up to 70 pounds. Must be able to use hand and power tools, such as a shovel or a chainsaw. Must be able to walk around golf course, hand dig holes or trenches with a shovel, and sit on and operate golf carts, utility vehicles, tractors, and mowers. Conduct morning evaluation of golf course irrigation, including pump station checks to determine previous irrigation cycle success and maintain daily water usage records.
Evaluate proper operation of all pump stations and communicates with Golf Course Superintendent as to required work and preventative maintenance.
Maintain and repair the installed golf course irrigation system, including heads, pipe, valves, wire, etc.
